Spring cleaning really shouldn’t be a thing. It’s a time where most people start to clear out their house and do a big clean after months of winter. It’s way too common to end up with a cluttered and messy home in the colder months of the year, probably because we spend more time indoors. Even in the summer, you can still end up gaining more mess after your spring clean. If you follow the advice below, you’ll soon realize just how simple it can be to keep your home neat & tidy;
Nothing good comes from having a messy home, so why don’t you keep your home neat and tidy all through the year? Some of you are already exclaiming that this is easier said than done. However, you’re wrong! Sorry if that sounds harsh, but there’s no reason to not have a tidy home all the time.
Tidy little and often
The problem with spring cleaning is that you do one massive clean once a year. Granted, you may do another massive clean at another point in the year. But this is why your house is a mess! If you do big cleans a few times a year, you give your house time to be filled with clutter and rubbish. Instead, clean little and often. Vacuum once a week, do the dusting once a week, have a general tidy up now and then. It sounds like a lot of effort, but it isn’t. By cleaning frequently, you make it easier for yourself by not letting all the clutter and dirt accumulate.
Move things out of your home if they’re not essential
This is a bit of a two-parter, and it’s something you don’t need to do all the time. I bet there are lots of things in your house that take up space but never get used. I’m talking about old books, old toys, maybe even furniture that doesn’t see any action. Here, you’re letting things make your home messier for no reason. So, get rid of them! Either chuck them out, donate them to a better home, or put them in a personal storage facility. The latter is a great idea if you hold some sort of sentimental or financial value over these things, yet you never use them. By putting them in storage, they stay protected without messing up your home.
Clean up after yourself
One of the easiest ways to keep a home tidy is to clean up after yourself. For example, if you receive a package in the mail, throw the packaging out as soon as you open it. Don’t leave a box lying around for days. Similarly, after you’ve finished eating, put your dishes in the dishwasher, or wash your glasses. So many homes look messy because things are just left out after they’re used, or not put away. If you clean up after yourself, you stop this from happening.
You can’t possibly look at these tips and still claim that keeping your home neat & tidy is a challenge! It’s very straightforward, as long as you follow a routine and don’t let things get out of control.
