august book haul

How the fuck is it September? It is genuinely surreal how quick this year is going. I presume it is because I am a parent now and my days are a blur of keeping my tiny human alive, playing, mini meltdowns and no sleep? LOL. As you all probably know by now I am a huge book lover & I love nothing more than getting lost in a good book. I think the one thing I struggled with the most after having Teddy, was losing ME time. I have never been one for going out on a night out or drinking at weekends ect, me time was always either blogging or reading so when I suddenly didn’t have time for either of those things it was a huge shock to the system. I managed to get a grip of blogging when Teddy was a few months old but it is only these past two or three months that I have FINALLY managed to get back into reading properly. Over the past week or so I have been on a little book buying spree, on Amazon OBVS. So I thought I would share with you my August book haul.

AUGUST BOOK HAUL

THE KEEPER OF LOST THINGS

“Once a celebrated author of short stories now in his twilight years, Anthony Peardew has spent half his life collecting lost objects, trying to atone for a promise broken many years before.

Realising he is running out of time, he leaves his house and all its lost treasures to his assistant Laura, the one person he can trust to fulfil his legacy and reunite the thousands of objects with their rightful owners.

But the final wishes of the ‘Keeper of Lost Things’ have unforeseen repercussions which trigger a most serendipitous series of encounters…”

THIRTEEN

‘To your knowledge, is there anything that would preclude you from serving on this jury?’

Murder wasn’t the hard part. It was just the start of the game.

Joshua Kane has been preparing for this moment his whole life. He’s done it before. But this is the big one.

This is the murder trial of the century. And Kane has killed to get the best seat in the house.

But there’s someone on his tail. Someone who suspects that the killer isn’t the man on trial.

Kane knows time is running out – he just needs to get to the conviction without being discovered.”

THIS IS GOING TO HURT: SECRET DIARIES OF A JUNIOR DOCTOR

“Welcome to the life of a junior doctor: 97-hour weeks, life and death decisions, a constant tsunami of bodily fluids, and the hospital parking meter earns more than you.

Scribbled in secret after endless days, sleepless nights and missed weekends, Adam Kay’s This is Going to Hurt provides a no-holds-barred account of his time on the NHS front line. Hilarious, horrifying and heartbreaking, this diary is everything you wanted to know – and more than a few things you didn’t – about life on and off the hospital ward.”

ASKING FOR IT

“In a small town where everyone knows everyone, Emma O’Donovan is different. She is the special one – beautiful, popular, powerful. And she works hard to keep it that way.

Until that night . . .

Now, she’s an embarrassment. Now, she’s just a slut. Now, she is nothing.

And those pictures – those pictures that everyone has seen – mean she can never forget.”

THE NOWHERE GIRLS

“Who are the Nowhere Girls? They’re every girl. But they start with just three:

Grace, the preacher’s daughter who unwittingly moved into the old house of a victim whose pain adorns the walls.

Bold Rosina, whose heart has become hardened by all of the straight girls who broke it.

And misunderstood Erin, the girl who finds more solace in science and order than she does in people.

They are brought together by the idea of changing the narrative of a girl they had never met, Lucy Moynihan, the victim of a sexual assault who was victimised further by people who found it easier to believe she had cried wolf than to confront what had really happened to her. A girl who, through the course of one evening, went from an excited teenager who felt wanted by a boy for the first time, to someone else entirely, with ‘a voice in the darkness, giving her a new name: Slut’.

Together, they form the Nowhere Girls, and decide to avenge the rape of a girl none of them knew.”

AUTOBOYOGRAPHY

“Three years ago, Tanner Scott’s family relocated from California to Utah, a move that nudged the bisexual teen temporarily back into the closet. Now, with one semester of high school to go, and no obstacles between him and out-of-state college freedom, Tanner plans to coast through his remaining classes and clear out of Utah.
But when his best friend Autumn dares him to take Provo High’s prestigious Seminar, where honor roll students diligently toil to draft a book in a semester, Tanner can’t resist going against his better judgment and having a go, if only to prove to Autumn how silly the whole thing is. Writing a book in four months sounds simple. Four months is an eternity.
It turns out, Tanner is only partly right: four months is a long time. After all, it takes only one second for him to notice Sebastian Brother, the Mormon prodigy who sold his own Seminar novel the year before and who now mentors the class. And it takes less than a month for Tanner to fall completely in love with him.”

& that is my August book haul! I haven’t picked up this many books in a while & I can’t bloody wait to delve into them. I think i’m going to read “This Is Going To Hurt” first…

I’d love to know if you have read any of these books? Which book do you like the sound of?!
