I am an absolute suckerrrr for a romance book, especially when that romance book includes my favourite trope of all time. I thought it was high time I share my top enemies to lovers book recommendations because lord knows I’ve read a fair few…
I love all the angst and banter that comes with it. It’s so entertaining!
ENEMIES TO LOVERS BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS
I’ve started with my favourite and what I love most about it is the fact they are enemies for a longg time before the loving begins which is more realistic to me! We follow Lucy & Joshua who work in a shared office and are both applying for the same promotion. If lucy gets the promotion she’ll be Josh’s boss and if she loses, then she’ll resign.
I remember reading this with the biggest smile on my face EVER. The banter these two characters have is hilarious and I actually laughed out loud numerous times. It was quirky and humerous without being cringey & too try hard. The romance is just… the ultimate cuteness and I loved it. I’m a slut for a enemies to lovers done good and I don’t care. I was SO invested in this book and the characters & I can’t recommend it enough.
Christina Lauren are the queens of adult romance. For those of you who don’t know, Christina Lauren is a author duo.. Christina & Lauren, HENCE the name! I have read a few of their books but this one is definitely my favourite. We follow Olive who is the typical unlucky in love, career & everything else character where as her twin sister is the complete opposite.
During her twin sisters wedding the entire wedding party get food poisoning from the wedding meal, and the only people who aren’t ill are Olive and her sworn enemy Ethan, who also happens to be the best man. Long story short, there is a all-expenses paid honeymoon to Hawaii up for grabs and they decide to put their mutual hatred to one side and enjoy a free holiday – who the hell wouldn’t?!
I read this book in one day! The plot was so bloody addictive and it is just the perfect book if you love witty dialogue and relatable characters. The only thing I would have liked to have seen more of was the sexy time. There was one sex scene and it was completely fade to black, which… some people will be a fan of but i’m a sucker for smut.
Penelope Douglas is a romance author I only discovered at the back end of last year and I binge read most of her books! She creates the most addictive plots, relationships and characters.
in the 5th grade Misha’s teacher sets the class up with pen pals from a different school, thinking he was a girl with a name like Misha, the other teacher pairs him up with her student Ryen, Misha’s teacher believing Ryen was a boy like Misha, agreed. It didn’t take long for them to realise their teachers had made a mistake but they continued to write to each other for 7 years!
They had 3 rules; no social media, no phone numbers & no pictures. They had a good thing going, why ruin it? Until Misha discovers a picture online. Named Ryen who loves & hates all the same things as HIS Ryen. He becomes determined to meet her. What he doesn’t expect is to hate what he finds. He suddenly stops writing and Ryen doesn’t understand why. Little does she know, he is right under her nose..
I loved the fact that they were pen pals for so long as it created a more genuine and real relationship. This book definitely has problematic elements, as do all of Penelope Douglas’s books – but I couldn’t help enjoy reading it! It’s a complete guilty pleasure.
One of my all time favourite book series. I stumbled across this years ago when I first discovered bookstagram and the synopsis really intrigued me. I absolutely love a bad boy/good girl romance. This is the first book in the Royals series.
This series follows Elle, who has spent her whole life moving from town to town with her mum – struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday it will all be okay. Until the death of her mum. She is rescued by Callum Royal and thrust into his wealthy lifestyle and moves into his mansion – along with his five sons. Reed doesn’t want her there. She doesn’t belong. He might be right, as Elle tries navigating this new lifestyle of wealth & deception. She’ll need to learn to survive.
The sexual chemistry in this is OFF THE CHARTS.
My Goodreads review from 2016 reads – “I read this in one sitting. I can’t put into words how much I fucking love it.” and that still stands now, for years later. OBSESSED. The rest of the series is also great and I can’t wait for the next installment.
Another Penelope Douglas but what can I say, the woman knows how to write a fantastic enemies to lover romance! This follows Tate & Jared who were once the best of friends. They grew up next door to each other and had the sweetest friendship until one day they weren’t. Jared completely cut Tate out of his life, unless it was to torment her. He became the definition of a bully.
I LOVED Tate as a female lead, she was headstrong, sassy & smart. She fought back to the bullying and really stood her ground when it came to Jared and his antics.
The author did a fab job of really showing us Jared’s conflict in really subtle ways that were just enough to keep you guessing WHY he was acting the way he was towards Tate.
Again, the chemistry in this was something else! They had this whole angsty, unresolved sexual tension thing going on. This book had me laughing, shocked & crying – a whole range of emotions!
I hope you enjoyed my enemies to lovers book recommendations and I’d love to know whether you have read any of these? What is your favourite romance trope?
