5 TV SHOWS TO WATCH RIGHT NOW
One thing I have perfected during lockdown\maternity leave, is my tv viewing choices. I have watched some incredible tv shows these past couple of months – some new discoveries & finally caught up on an old favourite. I thought I would give you a round up for my top 5 tv shows to watch right now!
They’re all easy to watch and have had me HOOKED, impatiently waiting for the next episode OR binge watching an entire season in one day….
We are all spending a lot of time inside right now (unless you’re a twat) so now is the perfect time to discover some fab new tv shows. In my personal opinion.
NEW AMSTERDAM – AMAZON PRIME
OBSESSED. Love it. I actually prefer it to Grey’s Anatomy which let me tell you – is a bold statement. I actually just finished season 2 last week and now I feel like I don’t know what to do with my time.
Set in New York following the oldest public hospital in America, it is based on Eric Menheimer’s memoir all about his time as the medical director at Bellevue Hospital.
This is perfect if you love a dramatic medical drama but don’t have it in you to work your way through 16 seasons. It’s funny, the characters are GREAT, each episode has me gripped & it has the dramatic twists & turns that everyone loves. Can we have season 3 soon please thank you.
NORMAL PEOPLE – BBC IPLAYER
I have literally just finished binge watching the entire season in one day, as I am writing this. It was… amazing. Worth the hype I have seen on social media. I didn’t read the book as i’d heard so many mixed things (mainly negative) and it really put me off picking it up. HOWEVER the tv series is so.fucking.good.
Based on Sally Rooney’s bestselling novel of the same name, this follows the relationship between Marianne & Connell, they are each others first loves, as they navigate life from their final high school days to their years at Trinity College.
It was humorous, raw, heart breaking and FYI.. their is a lot of sex. It’s GREAT. There are 12 episodes altogether and they are only 30 minutes long so it’s super easy to binge the crap out of it. As I did.
THE WITCHER – NETFLIX
This was released at the end of last year and it was glorious. I couldn’t get enough and have already watched it 2.5 times all the way through.
This is based on the high-fantasy book series by Andrzej Sapkowski of the same name and the first tv series is based on the two novellas at the beginning of the book series, The Last Wish & Sword Of Destiny. Both of which I read after i’d finished the tv series. I wasn’t as much of fan but I never really am if I attempt to read something after I have seen the adaptation.
This explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia & Princess Ciri who are linked by destiny to each other. It follows three main protagonists at three different time points and then they all link up at the end of the season. It took me a couple of episodes to get to grips with the timeline but it really works! It’s honestly one of the best things I have ever watched and I can’t bloody wait for season 2.
THE NEST – BBC IPLAYER
This aired on BBC a month or two ago and I really enjoyed it! A lot more than I thought I would. The first episode was…okay but the four episodes after that were so good!!
It is a dramatic thriller that follows a couple who find a surrogate in a young girl with issues of her own and it shows just how fat they are willing to for a baby. The characters and the writing was incredible, the twists & turns a long the way were great.
OUTLANDER – AMAZON PRIME
I’ve been watching the show on & off for years, and I love it. It is a historical drama based on the book series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. Basically we follow a married former world war 2 nurse, Claire, as she accidentally travels back in time to Scotland in 1973. It is sexy, romantic, dramatic and come on, who doesn’t love a hot highlander with a Scottish accent…
