LIFE LESSONS THAT FRIENDS HAS TAUGHT ME

FRIENDS has been my all time favourite tv series for as long as I can remember. I have watched it since I was really young, in little bits, due to my older sister watching it and always loved it but it wasn’t until I was in my very early teens that I became obsessed! I fell in love with their friendship, relationships & fuck me… I watched the last episode as it aired and oh my god, thank Christ Rachel got off that plane because i’d have kicked off otherwise. I also cried a LOT when they all put their keys down and left the apartment. Jeez. It still makes me emosh when I watch it now LOL.

I still rewatch the show numerous times and have done for years, it makes me laugh even more now as I can relate to it so much more. I thought I would share some life lessons that FRIENDS has taught me.

THAT IT’S OKAY TO BE YOURSELF & EMBRACE YOUR WEIRDNESS. – Phoebe is my absolute favourite character. She is so free spirited and couldn’t care less what people think of her. You know the episode where she goes running with Rachel, I wanna run like Phoebe. Crazy & no fucks given.

IF SOMEONE IS MEANT TO BE, IT WILL ALWAYS FIND A WAY – Rachel & Ross are a prime example of this. They both went their separate ways & got on with their lives but everyone knew it was meant to be. As Phoebe said.. “he’s her lobster”

RACHEL TAUGHT ME THAT IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, YOU CAN GET WHERE YOU WANT TO BE – I absolutely love Rachel as a character and I loved watching her grow as the series went on. She believed in herself and got exactly where she wanted to be. She found her independence & landed her dream job.

THEY TAUGHT ME THAT IT IS OKAY TO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE- I’m almost 27 & still haven’t figured this out but that is okay. You can’t rush these things.

 THE IMPORTANCE OF GRAMMER – Y O U apostrophe R E means you are. Y O U R means your!

PROS & CONS LISTS ARE NEVER A GOOD IDEA- Because people will find out and it will not go down well. Make it in your head. Don’t write it down for anyone to find!

JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE AN ADULT DOESN’T MEAN YOU HAVE TO GROW UP- Life is too short & too damn scary to constantly be a sensible adult with all these responsibilities. Sometimes you need to let your inner child out and have fun!

GOOD FRIENDS WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU- No matter what job you have, what situation you are in, divorces, kids.. saying the wrong name at the alter.. True friends will love you & support you.

LOBSTERS FALL IN LOVE & MATE FOR LIFE!- WHO KNEW?!

HOW TO TELL SOMEONE TO GO F THEMSELVES WITHOUT ACTUALLY SAYING IT- I literally use this on a daily basis.

“ROCK PAPER SCISSORS FIRE” – The best way to settle an argument.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO PIVOT!- I literally cry laugh at this scene EVERY TIME. Me & my sister love it! I can’t move furniture around without shouting PIVOT.

NEVER BET YOUR HOME IN A GAME –no good can come from this because the chances are, that you will lose.

TOILET SEAT COVERS ARE A REALLY UNDERRATED PRESENT

IT’S OKAY TO NOT SHARE FOOD – No joke, Teddy is the only person I will share food with & even that is pushing it. What’s yours is ours & what’s mine is mine. Obvs.

YOU CAN GET REALLY INVENTIVE WITH FAKE NAMES! – If I could get away with changing my name to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock, you bet your ass I would! I mean, Crap Bag is alright too I guess.
