CHRISTMAS CRAFTS WITH TODDLERS

One thing I was really excited about this year when it came to Christmas, was all the Christmas crafts & fun we could have. Last year all we did was make homemade Christmas cards with Teddy being only seven months old there wasn’t much he could do. So with him now being 19 months I knew there were so many fun things we COULD do! You don’t need to spend a fortune when it comes to crafty bits – I picked all our things from Home Bargains, Hobby Craft & supermarkets. I thought I would share the kind of things we have been doing over the past couple of weeks to help maybe give you some ideas. Top Tip: prep the area FIRST & prepare for shit to get messy.

CHRISTMAS CRAFTS WITH TODDLERS

STAMPS & PRINTING

For this I used different coloured paints (£1 a bottle in Hobby Craft) with Christmas shaped cookie cutters and I also cut a potato into the shape of a Christmas tree because i’m extra AF. So easy to do and Teddy loved it! I just put the paint onto random disposable plates so they could go straight in the bin once we had finished.

FINGER PAINTING

Obviously you can do this any time of year, but I picked up these four pots of mini fingerpaints from Wilko’s, they were only a couple of pounds and they are the perfect size for toddler hands. Not gonna lie, it did break me out into a sweat when Teddy was dipping his fingers in all of them, mixing the colours but ya gal stayed calm.

STICKERS

Again from Wilko’s I picked up a huge tub of foam Christmas stickers that were only a couple of pounds again. You just peel the back off and stick. I obviously have to do the peeling but Teddy loves sticking them down onto paper or card. They are really glittery so great for the little ones to feel as well. I also picked up some 3D stickers from Home Bargains for 99p, Teddy can peel these off himself so it’s a really handy for an independent activity.

FLOOR PLAY

All you need for this is the same stamps as before & some paint brushes, plus some wallpaper samples! I then put the wallpaper on the floor, sellotaped down and basically let him have at it! I do this in the kitchen as we have laminate floor so the mess is easier to clean up. Teddy loved having free reign and being able to get really messy.

I hope this post helped to give you some ideas and I would love to know what your favourite craft activities are?
