If you read my travel plans for 2018 you will know that this month we visited Wales with Haven Holidays, for a short break. We also visited last October but stayed at a different park, Greenacres. Which we LOVED, we honestly had the best time and the park was lovely. However this year, we figured we needed a little more going on with Teddy being a whole year older. We knew we wanted to go back to Wales & we love booking with Haven (I’ve been visiting their parks since I was a kid) so we spent a week or so trying to decide which park we wanted to visit. We eventually decided on Hafan Y Mor after seeing their amazing swimming amenities and the fact they had very recently spent £3million on a complete refurb of the pool areas – which have since won the Holiday Park Pool of the Year at the UK Pool and Spa Awards 2017. Teddy is such a water baby so we knew he would love it, and he did. The toddler pool was the perfect depth for him to walk around, the wave pool was really exciting for him & the deeper pools had lots of room to splash & play.
This year we were joined by Teddy’s Auntie (my sister), his Uncle and his three cousins, he absolutely loved it! We went swimming together everyday, they shared their first babyccinos from Starbucks & enjoyed lots of lovely walks. He loves being surrounded by people and especially the attention he gets shown.
We stayed in a standard newer model caravan, which we stayed in last year & was perfect for us. However this year the caravan was so much bigger! The lounge area had lots of open space for Teddy to walk around and the bedrooms were really spacious. We managed to fit Teddy’s travel cot into the second bedroom with plenty of space, whereas last year there is no way it would have fit & had to be kept in the living room. The site was kept lovely & clean, we ate out at the main restaurant twice (once for tea & breakfast), we had a Papa Johns delivered to the caravan (revelation!) & we also enjoyed a delicious chippy tea on our last night. All of which were delicious, slightly more expensive than usual but that is to be expected with them being on site. I actually found the restaurant to be really reasonably priced and their kids meals were amazing value – £3.99 and that included a glass of squash.
We were so incredibly lucky with the weather & it was 24degrees most days! We enjoyed lovely day trips, including a drive over to Abersoch which took around 20 minutes, for the beach & a pub lunch in the sunshine. Aaron, Teddy & I also drove an hour to Llandudno to Bodafon Farm, which is a free farm with a lovely outdoor play area and view of the beach.
Hafan Y Mor is a HUGE park, we were in caravans about a fifteen minute walk away from the main reception, pools & arcades ect which we didn’t mind because the weather was lovely but it is worth baring in mind if it rains heavily that you might want to drive round. The park has lots of outdoor parks, fields & football/basketball pitches which we really enjoyed and made us of. There is also a climbing wall, a go-ape & segways that are available at an extra cost! The swimming pool reception sold a variety of useful bits; including swim nappies in a range of sizes, swimming floats & armbands and towels or swimming costumes. The changing rooms were really spacious with a mixture of normal changing rooms & family changing rooms (much bigger & had a baby changing table), there were hundreds of lockers and also they had some quick dryers which we used to remove the bulk of the water out of our swimming things, before putting them over the radiators in the caravan. The only issue I did have, is that they needed to keep on top of tiding the changing rooms up – they were thoroughly cleaned at the end of the day but with the park being so big, obviously a lot of people are in and out, so they could do with cleaning them every couple of hours.
We would definitely visit this park again, hopefully next year! We had such an amazing time! The caravan was lovely, the park was clean & tidy and there is so much going on. I’d highly recommend this park to anyone who asked, especially families.
