If you spend a lot of time in the kitchen it makes sense to make the space as efficient as you possibly can so that you can use it with a lot more ease thus spending a little less time cooking and cleaning and more time actually enjoying the food you make and the company you keep.
With that in mind, here are some really quite simple ways to hack your kitchen for greater efficiency:
Remove the Clutter
The simplest thing you can do – which is also free- to make your kitchen more efficient to use is to get rid of the clutter, particularly the things that are unnecessarily taking up lots of space on the kitchen countertops. Obviously, if you use that waffle maker, blender or juicer regularly, by all means, leave it out, but if you don’t, put it in the cupboard and you’ll have much more room to manouver when you’re cooking.
Organise Your Storage Space
Adding extra shelves, wire baskets, hooks, etc., to the insides of your cupboards will help to maximize the space and allow you to organise your kitchen equipment for ease of use. You may also want to colour coordinate them so that you know exactly where to look for that citrus press or exactly which basket you’ll find your best crockery in. This is a very simple and affordable renovation, but if you have a lot of equipment in your kitchen it will make a huge difference.
Install Swivel Stools
If your kitchen is quite small and that makes it difficult for you to get around while you’re cooking or it stops you from comfortably having guests around, switching your regular kitchen chairs for swivel stools will save you a fair bit of space that you can out to good use.
Get a Belfast Sink
Not only do these traditional-looking sinks add a touch of understated class, but they are also very hard-wearing and a larger size than many other kitchen sinks, which means it’s a lot easier to deal with the washing up after cooking a big meal for the whole family. If you shop around, you can find them for very reasonable prices and they will certainly make life in the kitchen much easier for you.
Use Multi-Purpose Appliances
Instead of purchasing a blender, a bread maker and a juicer, why not buy a food processor that does all three? That way you’ll take up less space in the kitchen, spend less money and always know where your appliances are when you need them. It makes perfect sense.
Choose a Darker Floor
If you choose a darker floor and even better one that also has a pattern, it will hide a multitude of sins, so if you do end up making a mess, it will be much less visible and you can deal with it when it is most convenient for you to do so. Tiled floors are great in the kitchen because they will just wipe clean, so something like dark patterned Morrocan tiles would be perfect, and they are actually pretty on-trend right now.
Life in the kitchen can be a breeze when you use any of these hacks.
