Since we started weaning Teddy at six months old I have fully documented his journey so far and as you know we have been working very closely with HiPP Organic and trying out all their wonderful ranges. First we tried out the ‘My First Tastes‘ and them moved onto the lumpier textures which went down a treat! Teddy is such a foodie baby and loves giving everything a go, we are doing baby led weaning and all really enjoying it. The majority of the food ended up on the floor or smeared in his hair at first, but now he eats so much and is on three meals a day, plus a snack!
With that being said, Teddy spent the majority of January really under the weather with a cold, sickness bug & chest infection so baby led weaning went completely out of the window. Due to the fact he couldn’t breathe out his nose, he was struggling to chew AND breathe out his mouth, so the brand new HiPP Organic pouches arrived at the perfect time! We were given a range of savoury and sweet pouches, both of which Teddy has absolutely loved over the past few weeks and we were lucky enough to be giving them an exclusive trial run before they hit shops.
What I love about the pouches is how accessible they are, perfect for grabbing when you are in a hurry or on the go. Recently we had been out for the day & by the time we got home it was too late to cook anything properly before Teddy’s bedtime so it was a relief knowing we had these pouches. We tried so many lovely flavours including APPLE, BLUEBERRY AND BANANA MUESLI WITH YOGHURT, CREAMY VEGETABLE & FISH PIE and so many more I know they do a whole host of other varieties including hearty cottage pie and tomato & leek pasta. Which sound delicious!
HiPP Organic asked us to help introduce the new range by giving Teddy ‘control for the day’, with him being only eight months old I wasn’t sure how this would go down but figured we’d give it a go. As I said Teddy has been ill so he is pretty much living in baby grows and snuggly clothes, I held out three different outfits for him to ‘choose’ from and surprisingly he grabbed one straight away (which happened to be my favourite too, a snuggly white Winnie-The-Pooh number) and started chewing on it, which is pretty standard. I then lined all the pouches up on his high chair and let him have a play with a couple to see which took his fancy. It was breakfast time so I was glad that he opted for the FRUITY PORRIDGE pouch, rather than the fish pie. It was a tough choice for him though, I could tell.
To finish off Teddy’s takeover I let him pick which HiPP Organic Buddies book we read, and he also enjoyed picking the masks up and waving them about (nearly taking mummy’s eye out in the process but hey). We have absolutely loved working with HiPP and everything we have been tried has been given the go-ahead by both me & Teddy! Knowing that the savoury meals aren’t packed with ‘filler fruits’ to make them taste sweet, is so reassuring as we know that only savoury ingredients are being used in their savoury pouches.
Each pouch is full of flavour & the texture is a lot lumpier which makes it great for baby led weaning as they still have to chew, or introducing your baby to lumpier textures if you have gone fully down the puree route. With the fruit pouches they also contain 2 of your baby’s 5 a day, so you know they are a healthy option packed full of what your baby needs.
