Bryllupskaker; ‘Naked Cake’ – Inside Out – Nakne Bryllupskaker | Norwegian Wedding Blog:

Happy Valentines Day!
I thought today would be the perfect day to tell you guys all about our wedding plans, ideas and what we have booked so far. For those of you who don’t know, myself & A got engaged on the 1st December last year, I did a blog post on the proposal here.
The venue is the only thing we have officially booked, but to me I feel it is the most important! We are actually getting married in a hotel, as well as having our reception there. We decided to go for a hotel as I think it’s just easier to have the whole day under one roof. It’s also a good way to keep costs down, you don’t have to hire wedding cars to take you to all your different locations, church, wedding breakfast and then on to your reception.
We also have the date set in stone, the contracts are signed! I won’t say the exact date, but I will tell you, Summer 2018. I know it is quite a few years away, but it just gives us plenty of time to save up and enjoy being engaged.
In terms of the theme, we are going for quite a rustic, pastel, shabby chic, kind of theme? I hope you know what I mean by that…
We did originally want a barn wedding but our budget just will not cover that! They are ridiculously expensive and there aren’t too many near us so we would have to travel quite far and it would just be too much. So when we decided on the hotel, we figured there was nothing stopping us bringing the rustic, barn theme inside a hotel!
We are having quite an intimate wedding, in the sense of not inviting every Tom, Dick and Harry. I’m not inviting people just to make numbers up. We are only having family & our very close friends.
Food & Drink:
Food wise, we are keeping it quite laid back and casual. We will be having a 3 course meal for our wedding breakfast, but we are thinking a simple soup starter (can’t go wrong can you), a roast chicken dinner and for dessert, a summer eton mess. Possibly, none of these are set in stone, as we have a menu tasting as some point, so we can decide then what we would like.
At the reception we are just having a buffet, the hotel provides the food and it all sounds amazing!!! It isn’t typical buffet food which I love.
Drinks wise, we are opting for Bucks Fizz for our welcome drinks, glasses of wine with our wedding breakfast and sparkling wine for our toasts EEEK!!
For the cake we are leaning towards having a naked cake, with dried flowers, fruits and dusting of icing sugar. I just think they look absolutely delicious and so perfect for our theme.
Bridesmaids & Groomsmen:
I’ve known who my bridesmaids will be since before I even got engaged, it’s just a case of asking them now. I have some ideas of how I will ask them so i’m really excited! Obviously they will all say yes, or they better had! I will have my maid of honour, two bridesmaids and two flower girls.
Aaron is still undecided as to who he is going to ask to be his best man and groomsmen. I think he’s spoilt between who he SHOULD ask, and who he WANTS to ask. I think who he doesn’t ask to be his best man he will ask to be one of his groomsmen.
We will be having background music for during our welcome drinks, photos and wedding breakfast. Probably just a list we have put together and play them through some speakers, and then for the reception we will be having a DJ to play a mixture of everything! We do really want a live singer, but we need to find firstly, someone we like who fits in the style of music/singing we want and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. We’ll have to see what happens with that!
The Dress:
I have so many dresses in mind, however the only way I can describe what I like, is..are you ready? Light, floaty and whimsical. If that aint’ a description you can work with, I don’t know what is! *I jest* I don’t want anything fitted or too big, it’ll be Summer and I want to feel comfortable. I may change my mind completely when I actually try dresses on.
Those are the main ideas we have, that are pretty much set in stone and are a definite for us. We are actually going to lay off on the wedding planning until the beginning of next year as we have so much coming up this year, with my Sisters wedding in Cyprus, I have my best friends, sisters hen do in Morocco, so money is a little tight, plus trying to still do our own house up!
I’d rather wait until next year, when all our time and money can go into creating the perfect wedding day!
I’d love to know if anyone else is getting married and what you ideas are!?
