I am currently on my fourth week of Slimming World so thought it was time I gave you guys an update. I wanted to give it a fair go before I judged and make sure it was the right lifestyle change for me.
Diet Changes:
I can honestly say that I love it. I’m cooking fresh every night, i’m making better choices and just looking after myself more in general. I’ve tried lots of new recipes and eating something different almost every day, mainly tea time. All the recipes i’ve tried and made so far has been delicious! There isn’t one thing that i’ve made that i’ve not liked. They even have Aaron’s seal of approval. 
I’m eating a lot more fruit, that much that i’m pretty sure i’m going to turn into a bloody strawberry or grape. One thing i’m struggling with is veg, i’ve never really been a veg eater so i’m finding it harder to start incorporating that into my diet. I’ve mainly been eating spinach and peas as my veg which is a start but I definitely need to introduce more to my meals. 
Someone asked me the other day ‘can you eat real food on Slimming World then?..I thought they were friggin’ kidding me!? What do you think I eat all day, paper?! I wouldn’t last an hour never mind 3 weeks, i’d be chewing my own arm off. We eat burgers, curries, pastas and so much more! It’s cooking from scratch and controlling the ingredients that are the key to the weight loss. 
Weight Loss & Group:
It was my third weigh in yesterday and so far in total I have lost 3 1/2 pounds. That may not be a lot to some people but I don’t have THAT much to lose, maybe just under a stone depending how much I decide and feel comfortable with. Therefore a pound a week is a big deal to me! I honestly feel really proud of myself. I’m so glad I joined, it’s really given me a massive push and motivational boost.
I honestly know that if I had just attempted to do the diet myself at home, i’d probably have lasted two days, but so far i’ve lasted 3 full weeks, without any slip ups or major setbacks. I decided to set myself a small target so it didn’t seem as daunting and then if I want to drop my target again I can do. it’s really flexible.
I’m still really enjoying my group, the consultant and the members are so supportive and motivating. We share recipes and ideas, giving each other a boost when it’s needed. The consultant is really lovely, he doesn’t judge you if you’ve had a bad week he just tells you to draw a line and start a fresh.
I have noticed a huge difference already in the shape of my body and my skin. My stomach is less bloated and the spots on my chin area have improved so much! They are still there but so much smaller and less red. Which is a huge bonus for me as it’s always been something i’ve hated about myself and felt really self conscious about. 
I also have a lot more energy, i’m a lot less tired in the mornings and I don’t run out of breath as easy any more, running up the stairs at work ect.
We’ve also noticed a huge difference at home, in how much food we used to be wasting! We bought things for the sake of it, and ended up not using fresh meats, fruit and veg so throwing it all away which was a huge waste of money. We didn’t need to do a weekly shop because we were constantly buying takeaways or eating out. I now ALWAYS plan my meals and write down a shopping list of any ingredients I need. It’s so much easier now to cook from scratch, if I plan in advance what i’m going to be making that day.
Lessons Learnt:
One thing I have learnt this week is to let myself have a treat!!!!
Slimming World have a section called ‘Syns’ so aptly named as they are the foods that are usually banned when it comes to ‘diets’. I was determined in the first 2 weeks that I wasn’t having any syns and I was going to cut chocolate, sweets, ice cream ect out completely…which is harder said than done. I ended up craving chocolate and going in a strop with Aaron because we didn’t have any in the house, I think I didn’t speak to him for about 2 hours. I’m a bitch I know, but I really wanted some chocolate. Desperate times and all that.
So this week I decided whilst doing the weekly shop that I would buy some chocolate bars and have a ‘Syn Bin’ full of all deliciously naughty foods, where I could pick one thing every night and feel completely satisfied. 
Syns are so important to have as they stop you from completely tipping over the edge and eating 10 chocolate bars in one binge-session. Just let yourself have that 1 Crunchie, flake, whatever it is you want a night. You’ll feel so much better for it. I know I do!

  1. I love syns haha no I am serious, depriving yourself is awful- whenever I do I can't sleep etc or I get really moody so I just have what I want to eat- not binge but have a treat and then all is well 😉 xx
