Hello Lovelies!
  Today I thought I would do something a little different, and spice things up a little (excuse the pun). My mum is a member of Slimming World, and I’ve always eaten pretty much the same meals as her, so I tend to have the healthier version of everything for my evening meal. This year though I have decided to try harder for my breakfast and lunches aswel, without momma’s help.
Whilst my mum went on holiday, I cracked out one of our many Slimming World recipe books and found a recipe for a lovely curry ‘Chicken Dopiaza’. Myself & Aaron went shopping and picked up all the ingredients we needed. Me & Aaron love to cook, as much as we love a good ol’ takeaway, we also love experimenting with recipes and cooking from fresh. Gordon Ramsey & Marco Pierre White, eat your hearts out!
We love going to our local indian restaurant, but with it, most likely, being extremely unhealthy we decided to make our own.


  • 2 skinless chicken breasts.
  • 1 onion.
  • 1/2 tin of chopped tomatoes.
  • Tbsp Medium Curry Powder.
  • Tbsp Garam Masala.
  • Tbsp Cumin.
  • Pinch of Salt & Pepper.
  • Any Rice (We used Pilau).
We sprayed a frying pan with Fry Light, which if you are on Slimming World, Is only 1 Syn Each. For those of you who aren’t, a spray of Fry Light is about 1 calorie. We used 2 sprays to cook ours. Alot better than using oil though, right?? 
Start by dicing your onion & Chicken. You can add peppers or any other vegetables which takes your fancy. We cut the chicken into quite small bite sized pieces. We like a generous amount of meat in our curries 🙂

Put all your herbs and spices into the pan and fry for about 30 seconds. We found that the curry lacked a-bit of a kick, so would recommend adding bigger quantities of the spices.

After 30 or so seconds, Add the chopped tomatoes and onion.

Add your chicken and cook until white throughout. The herbs and spices are smelling LOVELY by now! YUM.
We bought a pack of Uncle Ben’s Pilau Rice and just popped it into the microwave. Cheating I know..

Voila! I was quite impressed with our curry and wasn’t bad for a first attempt. A much healthier option to a curry take-away/restaurant.
